OPENINGS AVAILABLE IN FREE HOSPITALITY/RETAIL CAREER TRAINING PROGRAM FOR OUT-OF-WORK METRO DETROITERS 

Detroit Workforce Development Department offers free training for jobs in growing industries in partnership with Goodwill Industries of Greater Detroit  

The Detroit Workforce Development Department has announced it is looking for students for its free Hospitality/Retail Career Center, which is operated in partnership with Goodwill Industries of Greater Detroit. Any dislocated worker residing in Metro Detroit may be eligible for the seven-week program. 

Orientation sessions occur Thursdays from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. and Fridays from 1 to 4 p.m., excluding holidays, at Goodwill Industries of Greater Detroit (3111 Grand River Ave., Detroit). The free sessions offer participants all the information they need to get started in the program, which is designed to provide the skills and guidance necessary to secure employment in numerous retail and hospitality careers with upward mobility. 

In just the past two years of the organization’s nearly 90-year history, Goodwill Industries of Greater Detroit has placed more than 2,500 Wayne, Oakland and Macomb county individuals into new jobs and provided education, training and career assistance to thousands more in the region. Graduates of the Hospitality Training program receive certification from the American Hotel and Lodging Association.

Non-profit organizations can gain up to $5,000 and gain new supporters this summer at Chene Park. Apply now to be one of the eight "In the Mix" Community Partners. The Right Productions will donate 25 tickets and discount up to 200 tickets for each of the MIX 92.3 Classic Soul Friday concerts to selected organizations. Each organization may sell these tickets at or above regular prices and may host a pre-concert reception on site with net proceeds benefiting the charity.
