Wife of deported husband to face President Donald Trump today

Cindy Garcia, of Lincoln Park is still dealing with 'separation by deportation' after her husband Jorge Garcia was deported to Mexico after 30 years in the U.S.

Cindy Garcia will be attending President Donald Trump’s first State of the Union address today, as the guest of U.S. Representative Debbie Dingell.

“I want him to be able to put a face to the tragedy that is going on,” Cindy Garcia, of Lincoln Park told Michigan Radio. “And I don’t know if he will feel any compassion at all, but I want him to realize that I am a person, I am an American citizen, and so are my children, and he’s tearing us apart.”

Congresswoman Debbie Dingell (D-MI), said in her Jan. 18 statement:

“Jorge’s wife Cindy has shown incredible resilience and courage in the face of these impossible circumstances. I am honored that she will join me at the State of the Union to be a voice for the hundreds of thousands of aspiring Americans who are part of the fabric of our communities, and who deserve a pathway to legal status in the country they call home.

“Now more than ever, we must not lose sight of who we are and the promise of America. It is time for Congress and the President to find the political will to do what is right, not what is convenient, and fulfill this nation’s promise to those who come here seeking a better life and those who call this nation home.”
